Earlier today

Mark never met a joke he didn´t like. He was a good 10 years younger than the rest of us Wolverines, but he was a part of our gang from the time Mike first brought him up to Ann Arbor, aged 11. Sitting on my desk now are a pair of Nero Wolfe novels he got me for Christmas. Sure was looking forward to hashing those out with him. Any time you miss Mark´s incredible sense of humor, please go to pflurgburg.com. This is a parody newspaper Mark created that really shows his creative genius.

Mark was a truly remarkable person. He was so talented and funny and smart. But even more than that he was loyal and dedicated to his friends and family. I can't begin to fathom losing him

Mark was one of the funniest and smartest people I have ever known. First met him when he was 11 and visiting his late brother Mark and U of M. He was a dear friend to me and my wife Angela. Can't imagine life without his humor and fine taste in detective novels. RIP old friend.

Enev though we met in High School, it feels as though we knew each other our whole lives. We shared stories of our childhoods, we were together for all of the major moments in life. You were always just a text or a phone call. Sure am going to miss you buddy...a whole lot.

Dearest Pat & Jerry.
I am so sad for you and our family to learn of Mark's passing. Losing a child is horrible, losing two is gut wrenching and three is beyond comprehension.
David called to let me know and I was shocked and so sad for you and Jerry. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and especially at this sorrowful time. Enjoy Mark's personality, and the love you shared. He and Michael are good ones. I love you both. Beckie

Mark was probably the funniest person I've ever met. Always jovial, always friendly. Mark never gave himself the credit he deserved. He was well loved by probably everyone that ever met him. I haven't seen Mark for several years, but I found myself thinking of him recently. I'll remember him with joy. Godspeed, see you in the next one my friend.

Mark taught me a lot. He made me human. He made me better. I have no words to do justice. He was the closest greatest kindest friend I've ever had.

My heartfelt sympathy for everyone, especially family, shocked by the suddenness of Mark's passing from this life. Everyone left to cherish his memory has my sincere love and prayers, especially his parents and all those closest to him who will feel his loss most deeply. May great Love surround and sustain you.

The year was 1988 when I met Mark. As chance would have it, our last names were but one letter apart alphabetically and this put our lockers and assigned seats close together in classes like Mr. Gillam´s biology class. Having newly moved to Flushing, Mark was fortunate to live a few doors down from Brian Kot, who was already a great friend of mine and within a few months, we were the three musketeers. I couldn´t have imagined the joy and laughter the next 35 years would bring. Mark was brilliant, witty and yet sensitive and kind. He was a complex person, multifaceted, multitalented and yet, not an arrogant bone in his body. His only crime is leaving us far, far too soon. Until we meet again, old friend ...
