Michael Christopher Floro

Michael Floro Obituary

FLORO Michael Christopher Michael Christopher Floro arrived in Heaven at 36 years old, May 25,2009, due to malignant primary brain lesions, glioblastoma IV. He was a very warm and friendly young man. The glisten in his eyes and his smile was contagious. He loved to spread laughter wherever he was and felt that life was to live. He fought courageously through his challenging journey of brain cancer. Michael's courage, kindness and love for life is an inspiration for all. He is very much loved and cherished by family and friends. He will be missed and thought of often by all. Michael graduated from Libbey High School with honors and attended Lourdes College. He worked 7 years at Southland Foodtown and 5 years at Meijer's on Central as a cashier and in customer service where he made many friends. He enjoyed the trips to Disney World with his grandfather, gaming, watching Ohio State and Green Bay football, cooking, and time spent with family and friends. The life and love he shared will be treasured by his mother and step father, Gail and George Sype; grand-parents, Ethel and Martin Duck, Therese Floro, Pat and William Sype; half brother, John Floro; step sister, Daisy Floro, and his cousin who has been like a brother to him, Rod Weiler; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Michael will be joining his grandfather, Charles Floro; great-grandparents, Marvel and William Libby, Bertha and James Hendricks, Cecilia and Henry Eischen, Walter Weiler, and Frances Duck. Friends and family will be received on Friday from 1-8:30 p.m. in Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway in Holland (419-865-8879) where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mary Ann Miller, officiating. The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Hickman Cancer Center at Flower Hospital, Lawrence Spetka, MD and staff, and Joseph Peyton, DO, Heather Rohrs, PA and staff for their support, guidance, and care of both Michael and our family. The family would also like to thank all those at Meijer's store on Central Avenue, The Toledo Hospital Radiology Department, Toledo Radiological Associates, Inc. and Custom Deco, LLC for their understanding and support. Michael asks that contributions be made in his name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Good Will Spiritualist Church. Online condolences may be made to the family at: www.nevillefuneralhome.com

I've known Michael since 1st grade at Newberry. We were in almost every single class together all the way through high school graduation. Michael, though you will be sorely missed, I am thankful to God that your suffering has ended. Mrs. Duck, I can only imagine the grief you and the rest of the family are going through. Take solace in God's merciful grace and know that one day you'll see Michael again.

I met Mike way back in elementary. He was so smart, quiet, and very kind. I am deeply sadden to hear he was taken too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. The tributes describe a very special guy. At Psalm 147:3 we read, "He is healing the brokenhearted ones, and is binding up their painful spot." Cherish your beautiful memories. Your family and friends are in my prayers.

I was so shocked to hear this tragic news. I worked with Mike at FoodTown at Southland shopping center. He was still in high school when he started working with us. I have the fondest of memories of Mike so caring and loving. Even though we went our seperate ways, when we would run into each other we could just pick up were we left off. I know for his family his death is a tremendous loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and especially his grandma Duck I'll never forget Mike Telling me How the song "Wind Beneath My Wings" made him think of you!

Mike was one of the best friends I've ever had. We had the type of friendship where we could look at each other, and without a word (or sometimes an added eye-roll!) we would know what the other was thinking. He was one of the most selfless, caring, non-judgmental people I have ever come across and I am lucky just to have known him.

Watching the toll the illness took over his mind and body was one of the hardest things I've endured in my life. Although I miss him, I am happy he has found peace. If anyone deserves that, it is Michael.

My condolences go out to Gayle, Grandma, Poppy, and the rest of Michael's family. Remember the good times, and smile... that's all he would ask for, from any of us.

I am so sorry to hear of this tragic loss. I have dreaded hearing this inevitable news. Today, I am saddened. My prayers and wishes for healing go out to the family of Mike...and to all of us who knew him as co worker and friend. It was always a pleasure to sit and talk with Mike even following his diagnosis. His spirit was always warm and funny, and his attitude was one of strength and grace. I will miss you Mike. We had some good laughs... from work, to Sesame Street characters, I will always remember you. From your extended Meijer family here in Bowling Green, and one of your previous Meijer Store Directors.

I was lucky enough to have met Mike last year when I started at Meijer as a cashier, and I had soon made a great new friend. It hurts so much knowing hes gone, and that his life and our friendship were cut short. He was a great person, and an amazing friend. I am so happy I applied at Meijer, for I never would have met him. I'll always love and miss him..My sympathy to his grandparents and family..You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
