I met Mike as she liked to about 2 months or so before her passing. I became her friendly visitor through Chabad House. Our schedule was ever Sunday at 3pm for about an hour. Started out great. Just talk. About this that and everything. The following week I baked cookies and took some to her. She seems surprised that I remembered. We talked about books and favorite authors. The following week I took a favorite book of mine. The Calling by Dr. Blair Grubb.. When I came back she said she wasn't able to read it because of a problem with one of her eyes. So before I left I said next Sunday I would read to here. She liked that idea. A week later Rivki called and told me about her fall. And as they say the rest is history. She is someone I would have loved to know better. Baruch Hashem Sandi Grohnke

Hello my name is Sandi Grohnke and I recently met Mike about 2 months ago. I was ask by Rabbi Dov and his wife Rivka if I would be willing to be a friendly visitor for Mike. We set up a time and a date . Sundays at 3 P.M. at Charter House. I had never met Mike so it was going on a blind date from decades ago. She was sitting outside with friends. And walking by I introduced myself. Because talking is something I'm good at. Come to find out she was who I was looking for. We went inside to her apartment. Talked for awhile and told her I like to bake and cook. Told herI was going to make chocolate chip cookies, and I would bring her some. And I did later in the week. Following that visit there were only about 3 more until Riivki called one sunday and told me she had fallen. I saw her once after that. But that was my last visit due to her failing condition. Our friendship was short but memorable.
