Robert Pompos Obituary
02/05/1944 - 06/28/2024
Robert F. Pompos, 80, formerly of Oregon, Ohio, died Friday, June 28, 2024. Mr. Pompos was born February 5 1944, in Toledo, Ohio to Julius and Anna (Puskas) Pompos. Robert was a 1962 graduate of Macomber High School and worked for C & O Railroad and retired as a pipe fitter from Local 50 in 2000. He served as a Union Steward with Pipe Fitters Local 50 and was active with the Toledo Labor Day Parade for many years. He served as president of St. Stephan's Church Council and was currently a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Oregon. Bob will be fondly remembered for his love of fun with family and friends, fine wines, whiskey, and dedication to Local 50 after his retirement. Many will remember his favorite saying "Nothing is too good for an American Pipefitter".
Bob is survived by his children, Michelle (Jeffrey Sullivan) Losey and Anthony (Michelle) Pompos; grandchildren, Ian, Megan (Chase), Gillian, and Tyson (Kelsie); sisters, Arelene and Jeannette; along with many loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbra; and brothers, Julius and Steve Pompos.
The family will receive friends at St. Ignatius Catholic Church 212 N. Stadium Road, Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment: St. Ignatius Cemetery. Preferred memorials: St, Ignatius Catholic Church. Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I became friends with Bob thru karaoke at the Eagles and VFW and knew him for many years. Bob occasionally sang but he preferred encouraging others to do so. He had a quick wit and a kind word for everyone. May you rest in peace old friend.

Bob and I became members of Local 50 about the same time. We worked on the same jobs several times. He was always a pleasure to work with and was a proud member of Local 50. I am happy to know his suffering has ended. My best to his family during this difficult time. Tom Pomeroy
