Ronald Hinds Obituary
Ronald Hinds
8/20/1927 - 6/7/2025
Ronald George Hinds, beloved father, friend, true gentleman, and beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 97. He was the last of his generation, closing a beautiful chapter of family history with the same grace and dignity with which he lived every day.
A proud Navy veteran, Ron served his country with honor and quiet strength. After his service, he lived a life anchored in compassion, integrity, and a deep spiritual practice. For decades, he began each morning reading A Course in Miracles, embodying its teachings of love, forgiveness, and inner peace. To know Ron was to know the kindest soul imaginable-one whose goodness seemed almost otherworldly. A saint in everyday clothes.
Ron lost his wife and soulmate of 55 years in 2002, and it's a comfort to us all knowing that he and LoRee Firestone Hinds are together again. That union grew a family of three children, Daniel, Jennifer, and Libby; nine grandchildren, Lindsey, Lauren, Zack, Danny, Carly, Sam, Rachel, Max, and Madison; and seven great-grandchildren, Blair, Oona, Marlo, George, Charlie, Joey, and Penelope. He was our dad and grandpa-a role he filled with unconditional love, humor, and guidance. His legacy is not just in the stories we tell, but in the countless acts of kindness he inspired.
Until the age of 90, he devoted his professional life and inventive skills to Luma Electric, the company founded by his father-a business that became not just a livelihood, but a family tradition. Four generations of his family - including Ron himself, the three other beloved Hinds Boys, and later their children and grandchildren - worked side-by-side under its roof, carrying forward the values and vision that began so many years ago.
Those who carry on his memory know that his true legacy is not in grand accomplishments, but in the quiet, consistent living of what he believed: that miracles are shifts in perception, and that love is always the better choice. He leaves behind a world made gentler by his being here, and a reminder for all of us to keep choosing love, moment by moment.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Secor Room of the Visitor's Center at Secor Park, on Saturday, September 6th, from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor his memory by paying it forward: offer love, extend a helping hand, forgive freely, and be a light for someone else-just as he was for us all.
Fair winds and following seas, Dad. We will miss you, and we will carry your love always.
