Sally A. Hughes
Sally Ann (Beaubien) Hughes, age 74, of Sylvania, formerly of West Toledo, passed away from an unexpected car accident Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She was born March 12, 1949, to Richard and Eleanor (Degener) Beaubien in Toledo. Sally grew up in Sylvania attending Sylvania Schools and later Monroe Public Schools where she lived with her father. She attended Sylvania (Northview) High School and graduated from Monroe High School in 1967. After high school, she attended Monroe Community College with aspirations to become a teacher. She moved back to Ohio in her early 20's and met her husband, Don. Sally had many passions, from a young age she played the bass trombone in the marching band, orchestras, and at church. Sally's biggest passion was being around kids. She worked at Trilby Day Care spending her days with preschoolers until she retired. Sally's favorite pastime was spending quality time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and being a significant component of their lives. She always told her family "I love you." Additionally, she enjoyed vacationing with her sons traveling to various places and watching her grandchildren's events, including sports and dance performances. Sally lived each day to the fullest as she battled kidney disease most of her life. Her positive Godly spirit in Jesus will be a footprint on her family for years to come. Her smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all that spent time with her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Don E. Hughes; foster son, Matthew Hughes, sister, Pamela Foor. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Mark (Theresa) Hughes, Sr., and Justin Hughes; grandchildren, Keeley, Mark II, and Allie; adoptive son, Brian (Stephanie) Hughes; sisters, Linda (Terry, Sr.) Shadle, Holly (Scott) Becker VandenBrink, step-brother, Walter Krueger; step-mother, Hallie Beaubien; brother-in-laws, William "Bill" (Diane) Hughes, and Paul (Carol) Hughes; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. â€" 8:00 p.m. at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43613. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday,, May 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 6960 Sylvania-Petersburg Rd., Ottawa Lake, MI 49267, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. â€" 11:00 a.m. in church. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park where she will be buried next to her husband, Don, who passed away last June. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Local Schools Foundation.
