Sandra Hackett Obituary
Sandra J. "Sandy"
Sandra J. Hackett "Sandy" passed away peacefully on September 3, 2015, surrounded by family. Sandy was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 28, 1935, attended Ladyfield Elementary School, Notre Dame Academy and Ohio State University. Following college, Sandy returned to Toledo and worked in operations at WSPD Radio. In 1959, Sandy married John W. Hackett Jr. "Jack" and went on to raise 6 children. A member of Gesu Parish for most of her life, Sandy enjoyed volunteer work for a number of organizations, including March of Dimes and American Red Cross. She loved to sew and was a passionate and skilled gardener. Sandy thrived for 50+ years at the job she loved most - being a mother to 6 children, a grandmother to 12 grandchildren, and recently a great-grandmother to her great-granddaughter.
Sandy is survived by her brother, Terrence E. Peters (Ann); children, Cathleen A. Netter (Greggry), Sharon J. Brown, Karen J. Hackett, Mary Ellen Glosser (Gregory), John W. Hackett, III (Dawn), Patricia A. Powers (Michael), Marcia Hackett; her 11 grandchildren and great-granddaughter, together with cousins, Wylodene M. Ragan, Patricia B. Landrum and Suzanne Bettinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hackett; parents, Edward and Elnetta Peters, and cousin, Mary Sabin.
A private service for the family will be held at St. Joseph Church in Sylvania, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to either the ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence or the Goerlich Center, both located on the Flower Hospital campus in Sylvania, Ohio.
