Sharon Lee Baumgartner

(McDonald)

01/13/1941 - 11/19/2023

Sharon Lee Baumgartner, age 82, passed on November 19, 2023 in Hospice Care. She was born on January 13, 1941 to Melanie (Vogel) and Ray McDonald. Sharon married her high school sweetheart, James (Jim) Baumgartner on July 15,1961.

Sharon was a loving wife, mother, sister, an incredible "Mana", aunt, and friend to all. She was generous and most of all kind-hearted. Sharon loved all kinds of dancing...Western line dancing and Jitterbug dancing with "Jimmy", her favorite partner! They also enjoyed fishing, boating, and walking together.

Sharon attended Arlington Elementary School and graduated from Libbey High School in 1959. In 1962, along with (8) dear friends from Libbey High School, they started a Bunco Club that would meet monthly to play Bunco, do crafts, investments, and enjoy lunch.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Jim of 62 years; loving daughter, Lori (Keith Allwardt) Dittman; grandchildren, Angela (Jordan) Spadafore, Joshua (Laura) Dittman, Brandon (Hailey) Baumgartner, Sarah (Chad) Hammel, Logan and Sophia Baumgartner; and great-grandchildren, Madeline, Mason and Millie Spadafore, Jarrett and Kaden Dittman, Kayson Labean and Isabell Baumgartner, Ellie Baumgartner; and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Brett J. Baumgartner; and sisters, June Sloan and Patricia LeRoy.

Sharon and Jim spent summers in Pt Clinton (Summer Breeze Park) where they met as teenagers. Sharon's career as a Secretary at Toledo Public Schools spanned 30 years from 1970-2000. After retirement, Jim and Sharon spent 21 winters at Oyster Bay Park in Ft. Myers Beach, FL.

Sharon wishes for her body to be donated to UTMC, as did her son, Brett. Ashes later to be spread over Lake Erie, Ft. Myers Beach and every shopping center in these areas!!

I grew up in Ohio. Jim and Sharon were friends with my grandparents, and we spent time with them every summer. Sharon was such an amazing person, kind, fun, outgoing, and just beautiful. We share a birthday. I'm so sorry she's gone. She will be missed.

She brightened every room she ever entered - from first grade at Arlington to any venue from then on. She truly loved anyone she ever met. And oh could she dance ! But what we'll all miss most is her smiles and her hugs. Thank you, Jim, for sharing your darling spouse with all her admirers. Our deepest sympathies to you, Lori, and your extended family; and may God have mercy on her delightful soul !!

Sharon was a good friend since our years at Libbey High School. Though we were long separated by geography and life issues in general, I was elated to be reunited with her at our 50th high school reunion. I will miss her greatly. My condolences to Jim!

So, so sad to hear about Sharon's passing away; she was always so full of life and we had so much to talk about on the phone every so often. Sending my prayers and sympathies to her husband, Jim, who was also a classmate of mine at Waite High School, as I know he is devastated since they were definitely soul mates. RIP Sharon and I will surely miss you very much. Hugs, Carol
