PHELAN Thomas James 2/15/1954 - 5/26/2010 Thomas J. Phelan, 56, of Toledo formerly of Monroe, died at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday at University of Toledo Medical Center. He had been in poor health for two weeks. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home where VFW Post 1138, Monroe will have military honors at 2 p.m. Sunday. He will lie instate Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Historic Church, 130 Avondale, Toledo, OH 43604, with services at 11 a.m. Rev. Dennis Hartigan, pastor, will officiate. Born February 15, 1954 in Monroe he was the son of Myron James and Joann Virginia (Bastien) Phelan. He married Julie Pickens on September 17, 1976, he then married Rosemary Vasquez on September 7, 1990 in Toledo. Tom was employed at Ford Motor Company, Maumee, OH for thirty years retiring in 2007. He served in the US Army from October 1, 1971 to October 1, 1974. He attended Jefferson High School and St. Patrick's Historic Church and enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing and hunting up north at his cabin. His favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Rosemary; mother, Joann V. Lefevre of Monroe; daughters, Tanya L. Trometer of Monroe, and Andrea (Robert) Garber of Toledo; brothers, Kenneth Phelan and James (Belinda) Phelan both of Monroe; sisters Ginny (Kevin) Smith, Sharon (Randy) Vanderpool, Gail Sanders, Michelle Thomas and Kimberly (Michael) O'Brien, all of Monroe; grandchildren Donald Garber, Robert Garber, McKenzie Garber, Jenna Hustwayte, Abbie Garber, Ricky Trometer, Jackson Garber and Sheridan Garber. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Kerry Ann Phelan; grandparents, Howard and Alta Bastien, Myron and Elizabeth Phelan and Genevieve Phelan.
