Eugene F. Hacker

1936 - 2016

Eugene F. "Gene" Hacker, 80, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 16, 1936, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Hans and Marie (Bischoff) Hacker. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a service technician for Verizon. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Larimer. Gene was also a member of the American Legion Post 701 and the New Vision Pioneers. He was a Navy veteran. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Janet R. (Guman) Hacker; three children, Susan M. Loftis and her husband, Dan, of Irwin, Eugene F. "Rick" Hacker Jr., of Export, and David W. Hacker and his wife, Diane, of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Erika Resnick and her husband, Adam, Rachel Snyder and her husband, Michael, Robert Thornton, Eugene "Ricky" Hacker III and his wife, Melinda, Ryan and Claire Hacker; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Snyder, Joey Resnick, Kaleb and Mathis Hacker. A special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Arnold Palmer Cancer Center at Mt. View for the compassionate care they gave over the many years and Excela Home Health and Hospice.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin. A funeral service will be held at a time to be announced Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Irwin.
