Steven Lane Obituary

Steven Robert Lane, 43, of Canfield, Ohio, formerly of Grapeville, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, in his home after a long battle with ALS. He was born April 19, 1978, and graduated from Hempfield High School in 1996. He was a proud Marine and he always said the brotherhood saved his life. Steven was immensely honored to serve for his country as a firefighter, military service member, TSA agent and customs and border patrol officer where he retired in the year 2020 due to his illness progression. He was a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, loved the outdoors, fishing, golfing and just enjoying nature. Steve was a true fighter, hero and loved by many. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Sandra Lane (VA), daughter, Lauren Lane (VA), grandson, Mateo Lane (VA). He was the she son of Robert (Rocky) Lane and the late Deborah Lane and is also survived by his sister, Michelle Lane and significant other, David Hockenberry, niece, Ashley- Dominique Lane, nephew, Nicholas Lane and girlfriend, Kyleigh Gaus, also aunt Ruth Lane and numerous family and friends. Friends and relatives will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of military services accorded by the Jeannette Combined Vets at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, PA 15644. Celebration of life will be held at Grapeville Firehall from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Steve Gleason at teamgleason.org in memory of Steven Lane. I also do not know this brave young man. But, I have been drawn back to your obituary several times. I guess because I lost my special Marine this year. Could be he is sending me a message through you. You now have earned your special angel wings, too. God bless you and your family.

I am so very sorry for your loss! May the family find peace in knowing that this brave heart will never be forgotten. I do not know Steven but today is Veterans Day and yesterday Marine Anniversary. I chose to visit this Marine and wish his family as they carry his memory on throughout generations. Sending daily strength and love to family and all who were close to him as your grieve and celebrate his life.
