Ann M. (Stanzione) Tempest, 91, of New Kensington, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at home. She was born March 12, 1923, in Natrona Heights, a daughter of the late Alexander and Philomena "Minnie" (Errico) Stanzione. Ann lived most of her life in Arnold as a homemaker. She also was the co-owner and operator, with her husband, Mario, of Mario and Ann's Restaurant and Tavern, in Tarentum, for 18 years. It was a gathering place for local customers, family and lifelong friends. She was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, and a graduate of the former Har-Brack High School. Ann loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed camping, sports, the Steelers, of which she was an avid fan, needlepoint and her pets, Gypsy and Odie. Survivors include her four sons, Benjamin Tempest, of Leechburg, and David Tempest, Mario Tempest and Kenneth Tempest, all of New Kensington; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ermalinda "Millie" Rouggie, of Indiana Township; and her most caring nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mario Tempest Sr., in 2007; four brothers, Ernest, Anthony, Raymond and Joseph Stanzione; and three sisters, Clara Theuerl, Theresa Palyszeski and Margaret Bogan. Christian funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
