Michael R. Graves

Michael Robert Graves, 65, of Arnold, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017. He was born to the late Clarence Graves and Johnnie Lee Graves of Plum Borough. Michael was a 1969 graduate of Har-Brack High School, worked as an electrician at Allegheny Ludlum for 10 years and loved his job at AT&T, where he was a call center manager. He also worked for four years at Siemens in Upper Burrell. After retirement, he owned and operated Graves and Sons Repair Service, a residential electrical repair company, with his sons, Ian and Justin. He loved to engage in conversation, loved his community and worked for its betterment in his prison ministry in the Allegheny and Westmoreland County prison systems. He was a member of Shilou Community Missionary Baptist Church in Homewood. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Jana Michele Howell-Graves, of Arnold; his sons, Ian Michael Graves, of Brackenridge, and Justin Lawrence Roher, of Arnold; his daughter, Simone Hrabczuk, of New Kensington; three grandchildren, Alaya, Makenzie and Brooklyn Graves; a brother, Richard (Tanya) Graves, of Stuart, Fla.; and two sisters, Gretchen (William) Johnson, of Pleasant Hills, Calif., and Giselle (Gerald) Burke, of Maitland, Fla.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Asa W. Roberts Way (Formerly Fourth Ave.), New Kensington. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Anyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the church.
