Auburn, Washington - Dr. Gerald "Jerry" Evans Post, age 96, passed away on December 23, 2022, just in time to celebrate his first Christmas in heaven. He was born in Sumner, WA, to Gerald and Celia Post. His wife, Janice, of 72 years proceeded him in death. He is survived by children Jason (Pamela) Post, Christopher (Sharon) Post, Laurie (David) Simmons, Jennifer (Tully) Hammill, 10 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren, as well as his brother-in-law, Dick Woodin, and numerous nephews and nieces. Jerry graduated from Everett High School in 1943. He met the love of his life, Janice, in 1945 in the cafeteria line at Central Washington State College. They were married on February 7, 1948, after Jerry returned from his Army service in Korea. Jerry earned BA and MA Ed. degrees from Central and in 1969 earned a Ph. D Ed. from the University of Portland. Jerry's career progressed from teacher, to principal, to school superintendent and he dedicated his life to educating and helping others. Jan and Jerry lived in Sunnyside, Longview, Renton, Newberg (OR), North Bend, Allyn, and finally at Wesley Lea Hill, Auburn, WA. They served in a church wherever they lived, lastly at Auburn First United Methodist Church. They had 6 progressively larger motor homes from 1986 to 2005, driving to Alaska, Branson, MO, Gulf Shores, AL, all across the Southwest as far as the Sea of Cortes and 15 winters in AZ. Jerry loved playing golf and even won the Member-Guest event at Lakeland Village in Allyn with his nephew Rick Post. His greatest joy was being with his family and friends. Interment will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
