Michael Shackett Obituary

Michael B. Shackett (Mike) Michael passed from this life to be with his Lord, Dec. 13, 2007. During his last weeks on earth his vocabulary was that of Thanksgiving and Praise to the Lord Most High. Being a man of few words, he found joyous release in his Spirit that became uninhibited in Praise. Michael's legacy was touching peoples' lives and leading by example. His quiet authority, compassion, understanding and charismatic charm ingratiated him to all who knew him. Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan, July 10, 1944. He was familiarized with construction at an early age through his father, Bradley; later, both working in Washington state. He loved the out-of-doors in whatever form it came, being an avid hunter/fisherman, always wanting to see what was "over the the next hill." His love of life was infectious, causing others to seek out his company. Not one to value material things, he treasured his wife, family and friends; choosing to spend his time with people - not acquiring wealth. He was slow to anger, quick to forgive, fair in his dealings with others. He epitomizes how we, as Christians, should walk on the face of this earth. If anyone was befriended by Michael, shown compassion, mercy, or forgiveness, or given a word of hope or encouragement, pass it on, honoring his influence. He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Becky), sons David and Michael, his mother Corrine, sisters Roxy and Betty Gale (B.G.), "brothers" Steve and Charlie, along with 4 nieces and 2 nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's name at Columbia Bank. There will be an open house at the Shackett residence Dec. 29th from noon to 6pm. All who call themselves family and friends are welcome. "See ya down the road."

Mike had two great families - one in Michigan and one in Washington. He had good times and happiness with both, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go to both families in Michigan and Washington.

Forty five years or so! It's been that long dear Michael since we met at Hunt Junior High. Since then I have become "family" with the whole Shackett clan. The Shackett's have taught me the true meaning of Christianity and loving just for the sake of loving. You shall truly be missed dearest Michael - farewell, for awhile. With love and rememberance,
