ROBERT SATER Obituary

Robert Norman Sater (Bob) 5/11/26 - 10/16/10 Bob passed away peacefully, leaving behind many wonderful memories for all to treasure. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. As an all around well known athlete in town, he was thrilled to be a part of the First Grid-Go-Round in 1943. He enlisted into the USENavy after graduation serving in the South Pacific. Bob entered CPS, where he played first string center on the basketball team. He married the love of his life, Helen Christopherson in 1953. Bob became an owner/agent in the insurance field, in Poulsbo and Tacoma, where he retired in 1991. As a "Old Jock", Bob and his friends revived "The Old Jock's Club", gathering at times throughout the year to share their memories. Reading was a big part of his life, watching golf and college sports, plus the many happy times that were spent at their Fragaria beach home. Bob was a gentle, kind and lovable soul and his dry sense of humor was one of a kind. He will always be known as the "Late Logger Great". He leaves behind his wife, Helen Sater, loving daughter Carrie, two wonderful grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Jacobson, and a large extended loving family and many wonderful friends. He was a true friend to all, who will never be forgotten. A celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday October 30, 2010, at the Tacoma Elks at 2:00pm. Any donations would be appreciated to the American Heart Association.

Only loving daughter......

MY DAD: Bob Sater was "one of a kind man" He was the kind of Dad anyone would have been blessed to have as their father, and I was the lucky one to have him.
He proudly entered the Navy during WWll to serve this county and return home safely to life a fulfilled life in Tacoma.
He was a sports legend in Tacoma. A Lincoln Abe at heart....and the best at his games, basketball and football.
He married the love of his life, Helen Christopherson after her stay in Hawaii working in the banking industry.
They bought Hagen Insurance in the Fern Hill area and turned it into successful business until they sold the business to retire.
Scouting for a vacation home in the area they found the perfect home in Olalla which they enjoyed and shared with family and friends having weekend food feasts...
My dad started the "Jocks Lunch", a few of the old Jocks met at Mama Stortini's for lunch which grew into a large group, then including their wife's. The group expanded to being held at the Elks or the Fircrest Golf Course.
Our family home was always open to anyone at anytime. Christmas was the BEST! The endless food, and of course some Norwegian grub included was always a hit. My mom loved to entertain and cook up a storm!
My dad was the kindest, giving man which as everyone said, "a dry humor" which always created laughter.
My parents were irreplaceable. Every holiday, birthday, special events get harder to get through without them in my life.
My dad at the time of his death in October of 2010 left behind his beloved wife Helen, his one and only loving daughter Carrie Sater, grandchildren Ryan and Rachel Jacobson.
He has missed the marriage of both grandchildren and the birth of 3 special granddaughters.
Dad, I miss you everyday. So many days I need to just hear your voice and your wisdom talks about life.
These tears are for you...... I LOVE YOU!!

Dad, The first day of the New Year. We cannot express the loss of you from our life.

First Thanksgiving, Mom's B-day, Your Anniversary and Christmas without you.

Mom's T-count was a.... 3, just as you would say :-)

So many things have taken place, but you are guiding us through this pain.

They say, Time heals a broken heart? I don't think that is possible.

We ALL miss you so very much.

Dear Cuz,I miss you so much. Remember the holidays we spent together as kids? My family, your Aunt Lila and Uncle Russ and my sis Barb and I would travel to Tacoma most every Christmas. We had such fun playing together. We were so proud of our "older" cousin. Your dad, Norm greeted me with "and how is my dear little "Toola"? We were so awed by your accomplishments in the Navy and your prowess on the basketball court. I remember you scored lots of points, but the coach often sent you in to wipe out the opposition! You distributed bumps and bruises expertly. I recall you didn't approve of most of my dates, but you did like Jim. When you and he worked together at Russ Chamberlin Co., he gave you a "thumbs up". After Jim & I were married, one of our favorite trips was to visit and stay with you and dear Helen. We had so much to talk about and the food was always gourmet. Jim and I are so thankful that we were able to visit and stay with you and Helen so recently. I wish the visits could go on. I love you so very much. Nancy

Carrie
I'm so glad to have known your dad and mom. Meeting them 31 years ago when we became friends. You had such a close bond with your parents and it was because of your funny, like able dad(Bob) and caring and kind mom(Helen). Bob will never be forgotten by all who had known him. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Love you,
Peggy Harrington, Pacific Palisades, California

I thought about you a few days ago, and perhaps that was God telling me to contact you. Of course, I ignored that and put it off for another day. Please know that I think of you often and will be praying and thinking of you even more during these next couple of weeks and months. May God grant you the strength and extra love that you may need around your heart to compensate for your Dad's absence. If you need anything, please let me know, even if its just to slip away for an hour for a different environment, call me. There are no words to make you feel better only time to heal.

I love ya!

What a grand and peaceful presence was my Uncle Bob, knowing there was the mischief maker/joke teller just below the surface. Thank God he was able to unscamble things for us when our Dad died. He was/is deeply loved by Kennore and us girls. Thank you Uncle Bob. Give Daddy a hug...
