SHELDON WALTER Obituary

Sheldon M. Walter II September 14, 1945 - June 23, 2013 Dear, sweet Shelly went to be with the Lord following complications of a rapidly spreading spinal infection. He was born in Los Angeles to Sheldon and Harriet Walter, and resided in Tacoma and Federal Way since 1958. He was a 1963 graduate of Stadium High and attended Olympic College. After two years in the Air Force he returned to Tacoma, and soon began a near life-long profession in the automobile business in management and sales positions at several Tacoma and Seattle dealerships. A committed and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, co-worker and friend to many. Ready with a smile, a joke, quick wit, and a tender heart for all he encountered. He was a board member and active participant of The Center for Psychological Research, a non-profit serving all ages on the Autism Spectrum and their families. Shelly was an avid golfer with a degree of patience that may have cost him a few strokes. He had a penchant for cars, travel, watches, and his favorite dogs, "Sophia and Lil Man." Shelly was preceded in death by his father, his sister Virginia, and first wife Barbara. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Dr. April Rivard Walter, his children Elizabeth (Liz) Walter, Laura Walter and husband Steve Collins, Adam Rivard Walter, and Kristen (Morgan) Walter, mother Harriet Grout, brother Bob and wife Nancy Walter, sister Phyllis and husband Larry Walter, brother-in-law Steve Rivard, sister-in-law Kim Rivard, three grandchildren, many dear nieces and nephews, cousins, their spouses, and many, many life-long friends, too numerous to mention. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Center for Psychological Research, 33305 1st Way S., Ste B-203, Federal Way, WA 98003, 253-235-5956 www.The-center.com A remembrance of Shelly is being held at the Twin Lakes Country Club in Federal Way, WA, June 30, 2013, from 3:00-5:00pm. All are invited. The date marks their 22nd anniversary, where their wedding reception was held 22 years ago to the date and time.
