CECIL L. BOYD
Einan's Funeral Home
Cecil L. Boyd, age 85, passed away peacefully April 28, 2010, after a short battle with kidney cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 15, 1924, in Yuma, CO, the second child of Charles and Aphrodite Boyd. At six months of age his family relocated to the Mission Valley in Montana. Cecil grew up and attended school in Ronan, MT.
Our father was a member of the greatest generation. He served in the Army for five years during World War II and served in the 3rd Army 89th Division in Europe and in the Austrian Occupation and Military Government. While stationed in Gmunden, Austria, he met his wife, lngeborg Pasnocht, in 1945. They married July 9, 1947, in Vorchdorf, Austria. After his discharge from the Army, they moved to Corvallis, OR, where he attended Oregon State University and participated in the ROTC Program. He graduated with a BS degree in mechanical engineering and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant at Fort Lewis after graduation.
He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oregon State Alumni Association, and a huge Beaver fan.
The Boyds moved to Richland on August 2, 1951. Cecil worked for General Electric, Battelle Northwest and Westinghouse Hanford as a mechanical engineer and manager. During part of his career at Hanford, he worked on the Fast Flux Test Facility (FFTF). He retired January 1, 1986.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed pheasant and chukar hunting with his faithful Gordon Setter dogs (Choice and Mac). Cecil loved to fish and couldn't wait for his backpacking trips to Lake Victoria.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 591Ú2 years, Inge; and daughter-in-law, Robin Boyd. Cecil leaves behind daughters, Karin (Ray) Moss of Moses Lake, Linda (Dick) Arnot of Kennewick, and Ava (Bill) Lauby of Mukilteo; sons, Gerald (Laura) Boyd of Kennewick; and John (Lisa) Boyd of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Brian and Darren Moss, Meghan and Cameron Boyd, Alexis Boyd, David Boyd, and Kathleen Runnells; and great-grandchildren, Tyrrell and Symone Runnells, and Aria Boyd. He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Grace Buckner, Phyllis (Fred) Drebes, David (Delilah) Boyd, Walter (Donna) Boyd, Iris (Roy) Carlson, Leslie (Charles) Moyer and Ronald (Liliya) Boyd. In addition, he leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.
