Earl was a special friend during the many years we raced RC Hydroplanes together. He had a gentle good nature and was always smiling, no matter how the race results turned out. We spent many hours together building boats in Troy McIntire's shop, cutting, fitting, gluing, panting and cracking jokes. I always enjoyed Earl's conversations as he had many interesting stories about his Navy travels. It is so sad that he leaves us in his retirements years, but, I know he's with all the other RC Modelers in Hydro Heaven, building and racing boat with grins a mile wide. We will miss you Earl, God Speed!

Earl was kind. Never raised his voice. Always helping others. Loved to have fun with our group of boat guys. Am so glad I got to be a part of all those memories. Late nights in the shop. I remember his first build of a Jim Harvey Motorsports frame up boat. First launch it stoped running right on the launch. Troy said one of his more memorable quotes "at least it floats". Earl thought that was so funny. It was 30 years ago this year. I still laugh at those two together. They are together now. I will miss you Earl. Thank you for being you!!
