SUSAN CASSIDY Obituary

SUSAN EILEEN CASSIDY August 15, 1942 April 5, 2017 Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home Susan Eileen Cassidy was born August 15, 1942 in Bellingham, WA, the youngest of six children to Clifford and Opal Gustafson. She passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loving family at Hospice House in Kennewick, WA on April 5, 2017. The great loves of Mom's life were her family and very dear friends. She loved to reminisce about the old days and cherished her memories of going out dancing with her friends. All that knew her loved her infectious laughter and quirky sense of humor. These are just some of the traits that she has passed down to her children and grandchildren, all of whom she was always so proud to talk about and share photos of. She loved them with all of her heart. As well as being a security officer in her later years of employment, Mom also worked in healthcare as a nurse's aide for many years. After Mom retired as a security officer at the Slow Pitch in Bellingham, she enjoyed spending time playing slots in the casinos, her favorite being Caveman Keno. Mom's favorite color was purple, but you would never hear her say no to anything leopard print. Her love of family was abundantly clear in her relationships with her many nieces and nephews, some of whom she helped raise. Wayne, Caryn, and Darrin especially had a special place in "Wonkey's" heart. She was a woman with a big heart and a lot of love to give and she became a second "Mom" to many children over the years. Mom was preceded in death by parents Clifford and Opal Gustafson, two brothers Bob Gustafson (Joyce), Clifford Gustafson (Ellie), two sisters Elizabeth Evans (Don), and Christine Stone (Bob). She is survived by one brother Delbert Gustafson (Joyce), three children, Joseph L. Cassidy Jr. (Kim), Janet Harmon (Mark Golliher), and Michael Cassidy. She has 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Joe, Janet and Michael would like to extend a special thank-you to Mom's friend Mary Ann Hurd who has been such a wonderful help and support to Mom. All the residents at Edison Terrace that Mom has formed special friendships with over the last several years are forever in our gratitude. The family would like to invite you to a memorial for Mom to be held at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S Union St., Kennewick on Wednesday, April 12th at 2:00 p.m., followed by "Party on the 4th floor!" at Edison Terrace 520 S. Edison St in the Rec. Room. The family invites you to sign their online tribute wall at www.muellersfuneral homes.com.
