Tom Delucchi Obituary

TOM DELUCCHI On April 1st, Tom Delucchi passed away from complications due to COVID-19. He was a wonderful husband and dedicated father who always believed family and friends came first and were the most important part of his life. Tom was born in 1951 and raised in the San Francisco Bay area with his two brothers. A graduate of San Mateo High School, Tom held an array of jobs as teen ranging from working as a furniture finisher, assistant in a bakery and for a sports equipment repair organization who maintained the uniforms for both the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders. Upon graduation, Tom joined the San Mateo police department and was an officer for several years before going back to school to earn a degree from the College of San Mateo in welding technology. Upon graduation, he and his wife moved to Richland, WA in 1978 when he hired on with Westinghouse. Tom had a wonderful career as a welding engineer and was proud to be a part of many impactful projects during his 28-year career. Tom enjoyed retirement to the fullest, from morning walks in the desert with his wife and 2 dogs, working in his shop and meeting friends at the shooting range. He had a passion for history, a love for opera and he enjoyed the finer things such as boysenberry pie and cinnamon rolls. Tom is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Jessica and brother Paul. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to Kadlec Hospital for meals for the ICU staff. For more information, please contact Emily Volland at: [email protected]

I had no idea Tom had passed. He was younger than me and always seemed so healthy and vigorous. I ate dinner at your home twice and feel really bad I had lost touch with Tom. I bought two rifles from him over the years and always enjoyed his knowledge on the subject. We met at a gun show. My condolences. Dave Parrish

Kathy and Jess,
I was shocked and saddened to recently learn from my son, Garrett, of Tom's recent passing. He was truly a faithful friend of mine who always gave me valuable information from his vast storehouse of knowledge. I will miss his friendship and good conversations. It's still hard to believe he's gone. I wish the best to you and Jess as I know the loss is deep.

My most sincere condolences to the Delucchi family. Knew Tom well from our days out at Hanford. I still have one of his guns that we traded. A gentle giant among his peers.

Kathy and Jess,
So sorry to hear about Tom's passing. I just found out on April 15th.
Our big white dog, Aussie, use to wonder over to visit with Tom while he was in your garage. I would be apologizing and he was so patient and said he just came for a visit. He welded a pipe for Sue Giese with no charge. I would have responded earlier if I had known. I've had you on my mind every morning when I wake up as I can see your house from my bedroom window. Now I know why you were on my mind.

Kathy and Jess,
So cruel, so soon. Lori and I are still in disbelief over Tom's illness and ultimate passing. You and Tom and I grew up within miles of each other on the SF Peninsula but our paths never crossed until Tom and I met at CSM in 1975-78. Those years in school together, as you will remember, were the toughest and I believe the biggest challenge we had faced to date. I was a proud member of Mr. DeFreitas's "4F" club. I don't think Tom ever got an F. We made it. We graduated, interviewed, moved to WA, and hired on and worked together for many years. Tom was a man of many skills. I remember his fine furniture and cabinetry, the clocks, the beveled glass of the cherry wood secretary. Tom was a fine machinist, the steam engines and the live-steam locamotive. Anyone who knew Tom knows what a beautiful hand crafted firearm looks like because Tom could do that also and his work was known across the Northwest and probably beyond. Tom was entrusted with many projects over his years with Westinghouse including the demonstration Pulsed Magnetic Welding (PMW) project of Bill Brown that ran in FFTF. WF (Bill) Brown was not only Westinghouses welding engineer, Bill was the welding engineers, welding engineer, and the father of the PMW process. That's trust! Well done Tom.
Rest in peace my friend.
