Elsie H. Collins TROY - Elsie H. Collins, 96, formerly of Riding Club Road Brunswick died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a long illness. Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Fritz Helmbold and Caroline M. Hammer Helmbold and wife of the late Arthur L. Collins. She had resided in Troy area all her life and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and Russell Sage College. Her family owned and operated Helmbold’s in Troy and husband’s family owned and operated Collins Lumber in Troy for many years She was a member of The Country Club of Troy, Ilium Literary Club, Friendly Red Door, Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Troy. Elsie enjoyed playing bridge and golfing. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Farrell, Sarasota, FL; a son, Edward W. (Lynne) Collins, Stuart, FL; three granddaughters, Susan (Christopher) Weir, Mill Valley, CA, Sarah (Jason) Laffer, San Rafael, CA and Sandra Collins, Sausalito, CA; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret H. Rohn and a brother, William Helmbold. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
