Frederick Garner Obituary

Frederick W. Garner TROY - Frederick W. Garner, 65, of Troy entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 15, 2017 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born January 3, 1952 in Troy. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Linda Garner, to whom he was married for 39 years. Fred was the loving son of the late Frederick W. Garner, Sr. and Angelina Zuccorello Garner, and cherished brother of Roger Garner, Joyce Cherry (Ron) and Pam Morini (Vince). Fred leaves behind his greatest accomplishment, his son Jeremy Garner (Victoria), and will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Gianna Garner. He is also survived by many wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and amazing friends, including his long-time friend, Tom Afinowicz. Fred was a remarkable man who lit up the room with his smile. He worked hard in the automotive industry for over 40 years, and had a great passion for cars and motorcycles. Fred loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved family gatherings that allowed him to spend time with his loved ones. The family would like to thank the hospice staff at Samaritan Hospital for their compassion and care over these last few months, and the last week. The funeral service for Fred will be held on Monday morning at 8:45 AM at The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 Third Street and then at 9:30 AM at St/ Joseph’s Church in Troy where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2- 5PM. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy.
