Thomas Nicoll

Thomas A. “Red” Nicoll TROY – Thomas A. “Red” Nicoll, 91, of Troy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Van Rensselaer Manor. He was born in Watervliet and was the son of the late Andrew G. and Loretta B. Connors Nicoll. Tom was in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served on the USS Battan, aircraft carrier. He was a machinist with the Norton Company (Behr Manning) in Watervliet for 39 years, retiring in 1987. Tom loved to play golf and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and New York Yankees. He cherished every moment with his five grandchildren. Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years, Theresa M. Delehanty Nicoll; his children, Deborah J. (Donald) Heaphy, Gary J. (Diane) Nicoll and the late Thomas J. Nicoll; his cherished grandchildren, Gary T. Nicoll, Daniel Heaphy, Elizabeth Heaphy, Connor Nicoll and Lauren Nicoll. He is the brother of Andrew (Carolyn) Nicoll, Ruth Ann (Jack) Yetto and the late Doris (Paul) LeBeau, Mary (Albert) Marro, Joseph (Mary) Nicoll, Donald Nicoll and Paul Nicoll (Janice survives). Tom is also survived by several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. Joseph’s Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 am to 10:00 am at Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third Street, Troy. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to Joseph’s House & Shelter, 74 Ferry Street., Troy, NY 12180.
