Beth Clare Obituary

Beth Clare of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Johnstown, PA, passed away on July 3, 2006. Beth is survived by her husband, Dr. Sheldon Clare; her sister, Joan Bernstein; by sons, Andrew (Julie) and Joseph (Susie) Clare; daughter, Ellen (Isaac) Slobodnik, also by grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel, Codi and Ty and sister-in-law and husband Patti and Sandy Berman. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Rapoport. Beth was born on June 5, 1941 to Samuel and Eva Rapoport and received her teaching degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Beth and Sheldon, teachers by trade, set up a learning environment for everyone they touched. The life lessons left by Beth are an outstanding legacy that will be passed from generation to generation. By working with nursery school children, Beth was able to start solid foundations for countless lives. A wonderfully caring woman, she was actively involved with Congregations Beth Shalom (Johnstown) and Ner Tamid (Tucson). In each, she served with distinction as a board member. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank and at a local elementary school. Beth will be missed by all that knew her. Services will be held in Pittsburgh, PA at Ralph Schugar Funeral Chapel on July 7th, 2006 with interment in Johnstown, PA. Contributions in Beth's memory may be sent to: 1) University of Arizona Cancer Center (1501 North Campbell Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85724), 2) Congregation Ner Tamid (PO Box 14785, Tucson, AZ 85732) 3) Congregation Beth Shalom (700 Indiana Street, Johnstown, PA 15905) Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
