Lawrence Fournier Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Emil Fournier passed away at home in Oro Valley on August 18 at the age of 93. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen; sister Marilyn; and stepson Scott Pierce. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary Lou; siblings Sharon Hostetter (Michael) and Ronald Fournier (Patty); daughter Danielle Fournier (John Corrigan); stepchildren Laurie Grangien (Laurent) and Craig Pierce (Tuyet); his four grandchildren Ashley Hughes (Clinton), Chelsea Pierce (Chad Redmon), Jennifer Rives (David), Marcel Grangien (Gianna); daughter-in-law Sue Pierce; and his great-grandson Forest Rives.

Born in White Plains, New York, Larry grew up in Maine. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. After, Larry worked as an engineer for aerospace companies in California, then changed careers to real estate and finance.

Larry married Mary Lou on August 27, 1982. They spent decades enjoying a life of travel, fine wine, and the company of family. After relocating to Tucson, they golfed and spent time with dear friends at Oro Valley Country Club.

Larry had a wonderful sense of humor, an impressive shoe and hat collection, and was never one to turn down a coffee or pastry.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. The family would like to extend their thanks to Casa de la Luz Hospice care and the Castro family for love and support throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Salvation Army Tucson, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Tunnel to Towers.

My brother Joe & I first met Larry in January of 1972 when he was the agent who rented us the house across the street from where he lived on Price Way. Meeting Larry was a game changer. In 1973 when that rental house went on the market, Larry said.. "Why don´t you buy it?" We said.."We can't buy a house", and he responded.."Sure you can". Through his efforts we managed to purchase that Price Way rental. Over the course of the 70s we became great friends, attended each other´s house parties, swam in his pool, even his dog Brandy and our dog Mitch were great friends. As the 70s progressed we worked with Larry repairing several houses he bought & sold in the San Jose area. My brother and I both still live in the houses we purchased through his guidance and are forever grateful for everything he did for us. Larry was a great guy, our condolences to his family and friends. Please contact us regarding his Celebration of Life, as Linda and I would very much like to attend.

Earlier today

Larry was instrumental in helping us buy our first home. He lived across the street from my then fiancé, Gary Anger. Not too long after we were married (1975), Larry called and said he´d found the perfect house. We really weren´t even ready to look yet. But through Larry´s kindness, we were able to own a house briefly before we moved to Oregon with HP and earn enough equity for a down payment on a house there. We will always be grateful.

Yesterday

My sincere condolences to Mary Lou and the entire family. I got to k ow Larry the past couple of years through music. I always appreciated his requests for music by the Eagles and his positive feedback when I played in the Oro Valley area. I will miss him.
