Maria MATHEWS

MATHEWS, Maria 78, of Tucson, passed in the presence of her family September 17, 2018. She was born February 14, 1940 in London, England to the late John and Pixie Liston before moving back to Athea, Ireland a few months later where she lived before emigrating to Chicago at 17-years-old and then moving to Tucson seven years later. Besides being a wonderful mother and stepmother, Maria loved cooking, entertaining, University of Arizona tailgate parties, and the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. Maria is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rudy; her children, Barbara Chinnock Rowland and husband, Shane, Brian Chinnock and wife, Karin and Kevin Chinnock and wife, Michelle; stepchildren, Julie Curry, Tye Mathews and Stefanie Fernandez; grandchildren, Conor and Sean Rowland, Megan and Brendan Chinnock, Tyler Decker, Michael Kern and Colin Chinnock, Jackie and Nicholas Curry, Calvin Walther and Haley Mathews, Austin and Bennett Rosecrans and Sebastian Fernandez; siblings, Danny Liston, Denis Liston and wife, Noreen, Nora O'Connell and husband, Bill, Sean Liston and wife, Mary and Murt and wife, Margaret. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Saint Albans Church, Tucson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.
