Mary Catherine Ucker Escobar

Mary Catherine Ucker Escobar, born in Logan, Ohio, passed away on December 3, 2022 in College Station, Texas, at the age of 79. Mary earned her RN degree from St. Joseph's Nursing School and Hospital in Parkersburg, WV, where she met her husband - a doctor named Pedro Escobar.In 1984, Mary and Pedro moved to Tucson, AZ to raise their three daughters. Mary volunteered with numerous organizations over the years, including Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and Salpointe Catholic High School. Mary was also a long-time parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she led the church decorations committee and served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. Following Pedro's death in 2018, Mary moved to College Station, TX.Mary enjoyed over 50 years of marriage with her loving husband, Pedro. She loved the outdoors, going for long walks, hummingbirds, gardening, and crafting. Mary served God and treasured her family.Mary is survived by her daughters Maria (Mark), Christina (Mathew), and Carla (Seth); her grandchildren Phoebe, Zachary, Mason, Lucas and Callan; as well as two sisters. She will be deeply missed.Mary's rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1946 E. Lee Street in Tucson, Arizona. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Road in Tucson, Arizona.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Catholic Tuition Support Organization (https://www.ctso-tucson.org/) to honor Mary's commitment to Catholic schools and education.
