Susan Robbins Obituary
ROBBINS, Susan Dell, she was born September 26, 1957 in Phoenix Arizona. She died November 11, 2006 in Tucson, Arizona. The cause of death was a virulent Leukemia, that savaged her in only a month. She fought valiantly with the most modern medical life support from the North West Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. Alas, she lost the battle. She is survived by her father, Earl Reding Robbins, Ph.D, and stepmother (Joyce) of Pheonix, Arizona and by her mother, Elizabeth Moll Robbins Chevola, RN, of Elgin, Arizona. She is survived by three brothers and a sister. They are: Gary Earl Robbins, J.D., of Flagstaff, Arizona; Bruce Donald Robbins, M.D. (Louise) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and their three children, Eric, Ann and Levi; Nancy Paula Robbins Gritis, RN (Wayne) of Vail, Arizona and their four children, David, Mathew, Sarah, Abigail; Carl David Robbins (Kim) of Bend, Oregon and their three children, Brad, Kayla, Shawn. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Lizabeth Ann, who died in a tragic accident in Elgin, Arizona, in 1982. She is also survived by two uncles and an aunt. They are: Donald Kelly Robbins, Ph.D (Shirley, RN) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Donald Henry Moll (Lois "Puddy") of Pennsylvania and Mary Lou Moll Inman, RN, of North Carolina. Perhaps it is fitting that she lost her struggle in the very hospital where she had worked in the Neo-natal unit, caring for babies with special needs. Her care and dedication helped many babies to survive, and to become children. She helped give them a start. Suzie, as she was called by her co-workers, did make a difference. Can one ask for more? Suzie grew up in Phoenix, and was in the 2nd graduating class from the new Chaparral High School in Scottsdale Arizona. She attended ASU for a year, taking basic courses in Home Economics. She took pre-nursing studies at NAU in Flagstaff. She enjoyed working in restaurants, and pursued that career in West Palm Beach, Florida until she returned home to Arizona in 1991. She received her RN degree from Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona in 1992. She then went to work at the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, New Mexico. Her treasure, during the time in New Mexico was her new bright red pickup truck. In 1998, she moved back to Tucson, and went to work at the Northwest Medical Center. All who knew Suzie knew her by her throaty voice. She really was a ray of sunshine, and very full of joie de vivre. She traveled extensively, to England and Germany, to Australia, and to Thailand. Her most recent adventure was sharing time with her mother and siblings on Maui this summer. "How they now treasure that time." Suzie died much too soon. She will be with us in our hearts and minds, as long as we live. She truly will be missed. She did make a difference. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Suzie's name to the Sunshine Acres Children's Home at 3405 N. Higley Rd., Mesa, AZ 85215.
