Craig Mercer Obituary

Craig L. Mercer, age 70, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after a battle with cancer.

Craig was born on November 23, 1954, in Wichita, KS to Geraldine and Stanley Mercer.

Craig was a great man full of unconditional love, kindness, and wisdom. He is remembered as a wild hippie soul who was one of kind. He was caring, lighthearted and welcomed anyone into his life with love. His laughter was contagious, and he loved sharing his knowledge, life experiences and funny stories with his son and grandchildren.

Craig is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Laurine Mercer of Coweta, OK, his son Troy Mercer and wife, Marcy of Collinsville, OK. Craig adored his grandchildren, Devin Walters and husband, Reed of Owasso, OK, Faith Mercer and finance Matthew Barber of Collinsville, OK, and Anson Mercer of Collinsville, OK, He is also survived by his sister Denise Ditsch of Catoosa, OK, his brother Larry Mercer of Broken Arrow, OK, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents Geraldine Jones and Stanley Mercer.

Craig graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1973 and immediately joined the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves from 1973 to 1980. On September 10, 1976, Craig married the girl of his dreams Laurine Caudle. The two raised their son, Troy, and resided in Tulsa, OK.

Craig was hardworking, during his career he worked as a high-pressure safety valve technician. He often climbed to heights of 230 feet or higher.

Later in life Craig and Laurine moved to the country in Coweta, OK where he enjoyed caring for his horses and a plethora of other animals, fishing, caring for his lawn, and just enjoying life with Laurine.

In his spare time, you could find Craig tinkering in the garage and being creative, showing his Corvette in car shows, riding in his trike that he built or playing his arcade game. Craig treasured his family and his time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was the Best Papa and his advice and his ways to make everything better will be remembered forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
