Harry Scoufos Obituary

SCOUFOS -- Harry George, Jr. Funeral service for Harry George Scoufos Jr. will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2006 at the First Christian Church in Okemah, officiated by Rev. Wade Harelson. Interment is to follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Harry George Scoufos was born November 29, 1918, in Oklahoma City, to Harry George Scoufos and Iva Mae Ellexson. He passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2006 in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 87. Mr. Scoufos moved to Okemah in 1925. He graduated from Okemah High School, and later attended the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, OK, and received a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma. After college, Mr. Scoufos joined the United States Marines during WWII and was stationed on a ship in the South Pacific. After returning home, he began his work as a Pharmacist. Mr. Scoufos owned and operated the Sooner Drug Pharmacy in Okemah for many years. He served four terms on the Oklahoma Stare Board of Pharmacies under four Governors. He was a past State Commander of the American Legion and past President of the Kiwanis Club and Lions Club. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Shriners, and a member of the Okemah Golf Club, the Okemah Hall of Fame, the Okemah School Board, and a past Okfuskee County Democratic Chairman. He is survived by: his wife, Shirley Ann Scoufos of the home; 2 sons, Harry G. Scoufos, III and wife, Valda of Sallisaw and Doug Scoufos and wife, Christine of Reno, NV; 1 step-son, Kevin Snell of Sallisaw; 1 brother, Raymond John Scoufos and wife, Billie of Oklahoma City; 1 sister, Mina Pauline Young and husband, John of Colorado Springs, CO; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Harry Scoufos III, Doug Scoufos, Kevin Snell, Vincent Scoufos, Harry Scoufos IV, and Steve Goodyke. Donations can be made to the First Christian Church in Okemah, 202 N. 4th St., Okemah, OK 74859. Service is under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, (918) 623-1221.

I am sorry to hear for your loss. I don't know your family but your dad looks identical to my dad and when i saw his picture in the paper, My heart dropped. They say that everyone has a twin out there in this world. I just wanted to share that with you and my sincere sympathy for your family.
