Jo Anne was my mother's best friend. She was always kind and had a great sense of humor. I remember she ironed 30 minutes a day and always took a nap. Who wouldn't with 6 boys to mother? She thought everything should be a celebration and an opportunity to share a glass of wine with anyone who would join her. There was lots of visiting on porches in the evenings. We had a great mostly Catholic neighborhood on 53rd St. with 50 kids in less than 2 blocks. She spoiled Cathy and I for years since she had no girls. I visited she and Jim about 1-1/2 years ago and she told Jim he looked handsome--their respect for each other stood out to me. The thing I most admired her for though was her ability to allow Tom to walk around the block for as long as he could. Even if he fell, she let him get up on his own for as long as he possibly could. I loved her always and will long remember her smile and hug at Jim's service not a month ago. I will miss them both, but they definitely left their mark on me forever.
