David JOHNSON Obituary

A pillar of strength, kindness, and devotion, peacefully departed this life on October 2, 2023, at the age of 62, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on March 12, 1961, to Clifton and Delores (Pace) Johnson. Dave's early years saw him graduate from Sibley High School in West St. Paul in 1979, setting the foundation for a future characterized by dedication and hard work. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a self-employed businessman, where he found success as the owner and operator of several Ace Hardware stores in the metropolitan area. On June 16, 1990, Dave united in matrimony with the love of his life, Kelly. Together, they nurtured a family filled with love and laughter, raising two daughters, Krystina and Jacqui. Dave's unwavering commit-ment to his family was evident in his everyday actions, offering a steady and supportive presence to those who meant the most to him. A man of deep faith, Dave was a cherished member of Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott. He actively participated in various roles within the church community, including serving on the pastoral council and church council. His service to the church mirrored his selflessness and devotion to helping others. Dave's love for the water, particularly boating, was a passion he shared with his family. His cherished vessels, the "Johnson & Johnson" and "Northern Comfort" served as the backdrop for countless treasured moments on the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers. Over the years, they explored the river's beauty during summers and, in the last decade, wintered on the "Johnson & Johnson" in sunny Florida. In addition to his boating adventures, Dave was an esteemed member of the Prescott Navy, a community group dedicated to safeguarding the local stretch of the river, often with a sense of playful mystery about the perceived threats. His calm and supportive presence made him an invaluable asset to the group, always ready to lend a hand. Dave's life epitomized selflessness, unending happiness, and the unwaver-ing support he extended to those in need. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, an enduring gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Ann Johnson, and their cherished daughters, Krystina (Nick Perricelli) Johnson and Jacqui (Tyler Gross) Johnson. He is also survived by their granddaughter, Sienna Perricelli, his mother, Hap Johnson, his sister, Debbie Merritt, and his mother-in-law, Ginger Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Cliff Johnson, father-in-law, Curt Johnson, and stepmother, Laura Johnson. A memorial service celebrating Dave's remarkable life will take place at The Old Ptacek's Event Center, 1449 Orrin Rd., Prescott, Wisconsin 54021, on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 4:00pm. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A Celebration of Life will follow the service from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Dave's presence in our lives will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering positivity will endure for generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace, forever in our hearts. Services are entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Prescott, www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com, 715-273-4421.
