A Hero´s Welcome
By: Mary Jo Tatreau
I watched the sun come up today in the dark sky of early morning.
A half moon high in the sky had a small glowing halo around it, like a heart broken into two parts.
One part belonged to my dear Pa, the other half was still mine
As the sky became light, a white haze of a cloud blanketed the horizon with a light white blue.
Higher up around the moon was that indigo blue color I like so well....
The sun came up over the horizon in a ball of orange, right where the trees were the thinnest.
The light that radiated in the sky was so bright, all I could do was close my eyes and feel the jubilation of Heaven welcoming a Hero home through The Pearly Gates.
First, the veterans were there, which of course included all of his brothers, and brothers-in-law and some of the girls of course.
Mór Mór and Grandpa, then all the heavenly brothers and sisters.
Under her own star was mother, who has waited patiently for father, reunited at last!
The sun was now high in the sky.
The sky was still crisp, bright and blue.
The birds were singing, and it felt very peaceful.
I´m leaving on a starship.
Till we meet again - May God keep you in his care.
I love you.
