I will never forget "Bloomer's outgoing and caring personality. Throughout high school, he was my best friend's boyfriend--and my boyfriend's (Rick J.) best friend! That had each others' backs, and others' too. My brother, Roger, shares a story about how they sort of picked him up by the elbows, as he attempted to deck St. Thomas senior Tommy K. Apparently, as a freshman; you just didn't mess with seniors--if you wanted to live through the next four years!! Bloomer had some chops in many ways. I remember when the crack drill squad came to my school to give a military-style presentation. Among others (including Rick J. and the late Dennis W.) Bloomer looked so handsome, as they cracked and slapped their rifles up, down and all around; marching as they did so. Amazing! And Bloomer was a comedian of sorts, too. One of his favorite shticks was dancing and lip-synching to the song "Judy in the Skies" ...with glasses. At that time, his glasses were thick, black-rimmed, Buddy-Holly numbers. Like a dancer with a Pork Pie Hat, he'd flip them around, bugging his eyes--exactly to the beat of the song. Funny. Rave on Bloomer. "You're the Greatest'!!!!

Truly one of the greatest characters to have ever attended St Thomas Academy in the class of '69. Jim had everyone around him in stitches all the time. Athlete, trainer, cheerleader, prankster and lastly - student. He had a great time and was friend to everybody.

To the family, I am sorry to hear the news about your loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain your family during this challenging time. Isaiah 61:1,2
