Dr. Jensen was a friendly and generous host all the times I spent with his son Mark at their cabin on Linwood Lake (where my dad caught monster crappies back in the 30's). He enjoyed meeting my family and seeing them grow. He is missed. If I can figure how to get this picture up you'll see Nic's resemblance to his grandfather! Much Love, Lee Jacobson and family

Dear Alvern, Tom, Mark, Jim, Liz, and Family:
I am very sorry not to be able to attend Jim’s Funeral service. I consider my self to be very lucky to have Jim as a colleague, mentor and a friend. I still remember very fondly his commitment and support to his friends, students and colleagues. Enjoyed very much traveling with him in Minnesota, and North Africa. His sense of humor, and ability to deal with unusual and stressing situations keep it me going. He will be truly missed by all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim was extremely kind and helpful to all of the students who were in dental school. His smile and jokes made the school a better place. He finished my patients endodontic procedure when my wife was in labor and sent me home. There are very few individuals you meet in your life who were great mentors, Jim was the best. My prayers are with the Jensen Family.

Dr Jensen was not only a great teacher, he was also the kindest mentor anyone could ever have. I was a foreign graduate student without a home to go to during holidays. Dr and Mrs Jensen always opened their home to me on Thanksgiving, so I would at least have a decent turkey dinner. Both Dr and Mrs Jensen shared a great passion for cooking, I found out when I visited Dr Jensen in December, 2010. Whenever I approached him to ask a favor or for help, there was never a time when he would hesitate. The usual answer I would get from him, " Consider it done, Luz".
It is always sad to lose people we admire and love. But it will be comforting to know that he is now out of pain. I now also have one more guardian angel watching over me from above. I also know that when my time comes to cross over, he will be there with his smiling face welcoming me home.
I will always love and remember your kindness, Dr. Jensen.
Mrs Jensen showered Dr Jensen with her love and care for 65 years. He was indeed a lucky man to have the love of a wonderful lady, whom I so admire as well.
I lost a great mentor and friend, but I hope to continue his legacy of loving kindness and compassion that he bestowed on everyone who crossed his path.
My prayers are with Mrs Jensen and the family at this difficult time.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Jim for 68 years. It is strange how the alphabelt can determine who your friends may be. In our freshman lab at dental school, alphabetically, it was Mellor Holland, James Jensen and Dennis Johnson. Jim and I sat together in all of our labs and dental lectures. We started a friendship there with Mel Holland that carried on through our whole lives. I knew Jim when he had hair! The color was a yellowish blonde, with often a rooster tail. He was a perfect model for a Norman Rockwell painting of a young man in his prime. His demeanor was always so postive, He always had a smile on his face, he was modest but yet very confident, he had a wonderful sense of humor, a great teller of Ole and Tina jokes, played his guitar for sing alongs and enjoyed music, it was just a pleasure to be in his presence.
We shared in our admiration for Dr. A.B. Hall. He was a teacher who was not interested in building personal relationships but bringing each student to the full potential of his ability. Jim's dad was in the lumber business, and I can remember Dr. Hall telling Jim to improve or he would be in the lumber business. Dr. Hall had a great respect for Jim and his potential in the dental profession.
He proved to be a good judge of Jim
I wish to extend my condolences to Alvern and her family. She has been the perfect partner for Jim in their lives.
