I doubt if the Simplot family knows me, but John and I were compatriots in the PR wars. After I was laid off at Control Data, John tipped me to the possiblity of a job at Medtronic where I worked for 18 years. We lunched from time to time after that. I'm certainly among the many who will miss him.
