It so hard to believe that it has been almost a year since Michael's passing. At times the pain is as strong as it was on the day he died, and I see the pain in the eyes of the people who loved him still. He is missed by all in very different ways. We need to remember he loved us as he loved life and for us not to grieve but to celebrate and embrace our lives and each other.

To Mathtew and Mychaela: You both were loved very much and were the most important things in his life. He wanted you both to be happy, stay healthy and to love each other as he loved you.

We have to remember what was important to Mike and to share these values with his children.

Mike was kind and giving. He liked most people he met and accepted them for who they were. He loved to laugh and enjoyed a good party. He liked to sit quietly and talk. He was a responsible man who worked hard to give to his family the things he did not have when growing up. He may not have had a lot of monetary things but he gave his greatest asset LOVE, to all who would accept it, and asked for nothing in return but love and respect back. Family and friends were everything to Michael.

So as time gets closer to the day we lost Michael lets remember him with love. Cry if we must but strive to share our memories of him. the joy he gave us all, each in our own way. Remember to tell those who are still with us how much they mean to us.

Matthew & Carrie, Mychaela & Kristie, Jennifer, Matt and Alyssa, I love you all and share your feelings of loss. Love each other, reach out to each other to make it less painful and remember he loved each of you!

My deepest sympathy to the Bartel family. I would see Mike every Wednesday, without fail. I drive Michaela to school every day, and on Wednesdays he would be there with her grandfather getting her on the bus. Sometimes at night, on Wednesday(his day off), he would be there picking her up, otherwise it would be mom. He always had a big smile on his face. You will be missed big guy.

I worked with Mike's mom before her passing. I got to know Mike through her and Greg Boone, Mike was a great guy, always fun to be around and goofy too. He will be greatly missed by many. He was taken too soon, it doesnt seem fair. Mike will be watching over us all, especially his children. We will see him again one day.

God Bless Mike's loved one's, and R.I.P. big man!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Michael today, for they have lost a truly special person. In the world today not many people can say that they have known someone who is genuinely kind & caring with no ulterior motives. I can, Michael was that person. I met Michael 15 yrs ago and I will never forget the day I met him. We all have our fond memories of Michael and on many occassions the way mine will start is thinking back to Chuck's Bar.We shared many laughs and cries and he will always hold a very special place in my heart as well as the hearts of many. I will cherish all of my happy memories of Michael and will always remember him with a smile.Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
