Barb and family,

I remember Pete during those pre-teen and teen years when he and I did quite a few things together but I won’t go into them here in this format.

Ponioti, as his grandmother would always holler at him (and she hollered at him a lot) was kind of in charge at the Demos household and I can still recall the Greek food being prepared by Grandma. The most impressive was the filo dough being rolled out to make Baklavah on the dining room table. A big production compared to what is done now with the dough available now in food store freezers.

Gathering Dandelion leaves was also a big thing in the spring for Dandelion wine.

It was always fun to go to Petes house to watch television because hardly anyone had one of those electronic gadgets. It was always so much fun to watch a full day of wrestling shared with a test pattern.

We spent time at the family restaurant, the Gopher Café on the corner of 9th and Hennepin. That was a neat place to end up after a day of selling a program called Pictorial Souveniers for the Minneapolis Aquatennial. Pete was always up for making a dollar or two…. I don’t think we paid taxes on the income.

I kept in touch with him while he and Barb shared an office upstairs from the old restaurant in the accounting office. We passed the time on several occasions as I frequently took a break from my job with the City of Minneapolis.

I was unable to stay to meet the family at the reviewal to express my sadness but take this occasion to do that. Those pictures displayed showing his childhood really brought back the memories.

Pete was a great friend and I will miss him.

I first met Peter 10 years ago. It was after the Shrine Circus at the Target Center when my daughter Celena was 2 yrs old. I had lost my car keys and thought they were inside, frantic as to what to do with a small child and all. Peter calmly led us inside and sat us in the back room with his wife Barb and the clowns to entertain my daughter. He then had the arena searched for our missing keys. Unfortunately they did not turn up but Peter insisted on having his son Pete drive us home to get my spare set, then back downtown again. We lived 30 miles north, quite a trip. I'll never forget the take charge decisions on his part and the generosity of his time that day. Peter and Barb became our accountants since that day. But this is just one story as to Peters caring of others when they need a hand. He will be missed by many whose lives he touched.

It was about 1988 that I was introduced to Pete by a mutual friend. It was indeed a pleasure. Pete did my personal and business taxes for all these years.

Before he and Barb moved to Florida it was always fun to sit down with Pete across from the computer for the annual right of tax preperation. It was typically 3 hours of stories and 20 minutes of calculations. Since moving to Florida the stories were on the phone or via e-mail.

Pete will be missed. He was a good man.

My respects to Barb, Pete Jr. and other family members.

May Pete's soul rest in peace.

Respectfully,

Dave Levi

Pete and family,

Please accept my sympathy on the passing of your Dad. There is never a good time to lose a parent. Think of the good times and smile because of them.

Take care.

I first met Pete when we flew for Nelson-Ryan flight service and later for Fleet Airlines back in the early to late 60's. It was during that time that I had got into some trouble with the IRS. In telling Pete of my problem is when I found out he was not only a Pilot but an accomplished tax accountant. In Petes typical style he told me to relax and he would handle it. Which ofcourse he did and has continued to right to the present time.

I will miss Pete's outrageous humor, the stories of all his adventures, but most importnatly his friendship

I knew Pete for about 30 years, and I always knew him as a really incredible person. Pete would say things to me that would make me laugh so hard I would cry. Pete was a friend and also he was my tax man, so he was always great fun to listen to whenever I had a tax question. He was a true expert in his field, both in tax accounting and flying planes. One of Pete's proudest moments was when he was about 40 years old and he repossessed Edi Amin’s private jet and returned it to the Israeli’s. The next day nearly every major newspaper in the world carried the story on the front page “American Pilot takes Ugandan President’s plane” It was really exciting to hear Pete come back and talk about the dramatic escape in Uganda. I will miss Pete and I am sure that many more people will miss him also because he has touched many lives.
