We've had the pleasure of Roger & Wendy as delightful neighbors for the past six years. Our horses and goats will miss his twice daily greetings and treats as he would walk Sonnet, their German Shepherd along the pasture fenceline. Roger will always hold a special place in our hearts and we will all miss him very much.

I met Roger towards the end of his 3M career when I first joined the 3M patent liaison group. Roger made me feel welcome and was very helpful. I loved to hear him tell stories – he made me laugh! I am honored to have known him. My prayers are with his family and friends.

I have had the wonderful privilege of knowing the Evans' family, through my friend Alison, for nearly 35 years. Roger was a man of tremendous character, intellect, enthusiasm, wit, as well as a loving father and husband. My prayers are with you Alison, Lawrence, Robert, and Wendy, as you mourn his passing and celebrate his life.

I know, admired, and thoroughly enjoyed Roger from my early days at 3M in the mid-1970s. Being his friend was a great blessing in my life, and working with him on the Tech Forum flier, savoring his inimitable writing style and his sense of humor, was one of my great joys. Roger, you were a powerful and respected voice at 3M and the Tech Forum, and you were a wonderful influence in the lives of your friends. I will miss you more than I can say.

Roger and I first met nearly 22 years ago. It was my first day at 3M. I was a 20 something year old with a lot of apprehension about my new career. Roger was one of the first people I met that day and he was very cordial, which I came to realize was the norm with Roger. Eventually our conversations at work included a mutual interest in music and soon Roger recruited me to join the orchestra of Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company.

After Roger retired from 3M we still had the Gilbert and Sullivan group in common. I was very fortunate to continue my association with Roger and meet Wendy through our work with this group. I will miss Roger very much and the great times we have had. He has touched the lives of so many of us at 3M and the G&S group.

Roger was a gentleman and kind person of the highest order. He made everyone he worked with feel good about themselves and working with him. He was a dear, dear colleague to many of us at 3M.

It was a deep honor to have worked with him and to get to know him. We were made richer as we enjoyed and shared his personality, wisdom, warmth, and sense of humor. His kind are rare and are sorely needed more and more in this world.

Somewhere in the heavens, a saintly Gilbert and Sullivan troupe gained a wonderful voice and member . . .

Roger had such enthusiasm for life and people and work. He threw himself wholeheartedly into all his activities--making a video on intellectual property protection, learning a dance for G&SVLO, selecting and setting up a new PC. Rather than be an outsider, he became the social glue that held the 3M technical community together. He always had encouraging words, and that great sunny smile that Mike referred to, that made everyone feel like they really mattered to him. We were blessed with his presence in our lives.

Wendy, even though we worked with him here everyday, it's still hard to remember him without you. He spoke of you often, always with respect and admiration and love. Our prayers are with you -- God bless.

Roger was a voice of wisdom during his time at 3M while working with the technical forum. He reminded us of its' history and values. He provided youngsters like me with prospective. Roger was a man of integrity. He was a man of humor and used it to break the tension of a situation as well as to teach. The world is a lesser place without Roger.

Roger sang with us for twenty years, and I still felt as if I were meeting him after a long and fascinating life. It was wonderful to listen to him talk about his life in England and his coming the U.S.

He was fun to be with on stage. The first we appeared together, I asked what the attitude was of his character toward mine. He said, "I think I tolerate you."

It was wonderful to have his perspective as an Englishman and a world traveler. We shall all miss him a lot.

From your loving son Lawrence. I will always miss you. You are clearly as much of a character as I am. We are expecting upwards of 300 people at your memorial service. The more the better in my opinion. You always appreciated a great celebration. Judging by the entries in this guest book you sure gave people a lot to celebrate about.

Roger was one of the great personalities of the Gilbert & Sullivan Very Light Opera Company. His cheer and enthusiasm (not to mention his perpetual photography) were among the things that made the 4 years I spent with the company the best and most memorable of my life. I will miss him very much. We love you, Wendy.

Roger was a great friend and philosopher. His humor, beaming smile, and passion for guiding others at 3M will be missed dearly.

At 3M, in addition to his career, he was instrumental in founding the TF Flier, a 33 year-young newsletter which was read by 3M's technical community the world over and continues to this day. Everyone knew Roger...

As a friend of Roger's, I will miss his wisdom, his spirit, and help over the years. Wendy, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
