Thanks for your generousity Capt. which was the only name that I knew you by until you took us on a boat ride on the river last fall and even paid for a bus to pick us up at Lake Calhoun. It was fun just watching and listening to you in "your element". You'll be missed!

Farewell Captain. Your stories, wisdom, and life of passion and curiosity have inspired me each and everyday. I am so glad we were able to get the Legion of Honor recognition from the French Government last year - long overdue and so deserved. We will miss you, but we will never forget you and all you have done for so many.

We met you in the waiting room of Mayo Clinic this year. We had time to converse as you admired my service dog. It was delightful to hear stories about your life as we passed the time. Such an honor to meet you! Thanks for making that day and the waiting easier for us! God's love and peace be with you and your family!

To Bill Bowell's Family:
We are shocked and saddened to read of Bill's passing in the online version of the Star Tribune obituations this morning. When we were neighbors on James Avenue in Minneapolis, we enjoyed chatting with Bill each day. He always had a bright outlook and wonderful stories to share. And what a singular legacy he has left to Minnesota -- the Packet Boat fleet and a million fun memories for each of the holiday sailors.

I am so sorry to hear about Capt. Bowell's passing. My wonderful memory of him and his beloved Jonathon Paddleford is my wedding day aboard that wonderful boat with him at the helm and his amazing crew all decked out in navy and white ! Capt. Bowell is an institution in river boating. He and his terrific stories will be missed.
