Christos Vailas Obituary

MANCHESTER - Christos Vailas, 85, died June 20, 2011, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

He was born on July 21, 1925, in Manchester, to Athanasios and Angeliki (Vlaha) Vailas, and was a lifelong resident.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Vailas was a carpenter serving the Manchester area for many years.

He was a conscientious, hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors as a hunter and had a deep pride in his Greek heritage.

Family includes his wife, Anastasia (Pappis) Vailas of Manchester; their daughter Angela V. Bourassa of Manchester; his sons Dr. Arthur Vailas of Pocatello, Idaho, Nicholas Vailas of Bedford, Dr. James Vailas of Bedford, John Vailas of Candia, and Alexander Vailas of Manchester; 14 grandchildren; nieces and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cate & Johnson Funeral Home, 573 Pine St., corner of Harrison Street. A Trisagion prayer service will be offered at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Funeral Service are Friday at 10 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. George Cathedral, 650 Hanover St., Manchester 03104.
