John Jarvis Obituary

John "Jack" Jarvis, 78, of Manchester, died September 28, 2022 at his home after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester on November 15, 1943 to John P. and Genevieve (Dorney) Jarvis. He graduated from Central High School in 1962, served in the National Guard, and was a lifelong resident of Manchester. In his later years he spent winter months in Dunedin, FL.

He worked in the State and National Departments of Labor and was responsible for apprenticeship organization. He was also a member of the NH SEA and the Raphael Club.

Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna (Christopher) Jarvis of Manchester; two children, Kristin Cassidy of Manchester and David Jarvis of Brazil; five grandchildren, Sarah, Molly, Sean, Joseph, and Breandan; two sisters, Judy Kendrigan and her husband, Joe, of Tequesta, FL and Jayne Jarvis of Palmetto, FL and many nieces and nephews.

He had an adventurous spirit. As a teenager, he dove off a 55 ft height at "The Ledge", skied Tuckermans Ravine for the thrill and partook in a million adventures. He yearned to be active and slowing down in recent years was challenging for him.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, bike riding and all outdoor activities. He was drawn to water, always, whether it was Hampton Beach, Lake Winnipesaukee, Suncook Lake, or the Florida Gulf.

Jack enjoyed the simple things in life. He ate what he wanted to eat and enjoyed desserts. He liked joining friends to listen to Irish folk music. A perfect afternoon would be spent with good friends and cold beer watching a Patriots game. He was driven to support his family and friends to his dying day. His family will forever remember how much he loved and cared for them.

SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (10/03) at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral, 439 Pine St., Manchester.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.stjude.org

Donna and family,
Jack will be missed by his childhood, neighbor and babysitter - Denny. We enjoyed seeing Jack at irish functions, walking on the beach on around the trailer park. Seeing both of you with family at the Puritan Backroom or St. Patrick's church. Glad he and my dad spent sometime together on Sand Key beach in Florida. He will be missed. Sheila
