Laurel Bernier Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Laurel Anne Bernier, 49, on June 9, 2025.

Born in Derry, N.H., on Jan. 13, 1976, she lived in Londonderry throughout her school years. She graduated from Londonderry High School in 1994. She attended Northern Essex Community College for two years, earning perfect grades in microbiology.

Laurel excelled at whatever she put her mind to. She was steeped in common sense, good judgement and decency toward others; and she made fast friends throughout her life. She also had a serious wit and contagious sense of humor that never left her.

All these traits came in to play in the role that was most important to her: being a mother to her son, Nathan. Nathan arrived in 2006 and graduated from high school with high honors just days after Laurel died. Although she missed that final step, she was always enormously proud of him and her efforts to raise him are evident in the fine person he has become.

Laurel was predeceased by her father, Peter J. Bernier. She is survived by her son, Nathan Bernier; her mother, Kate Bernier; her brother, Joel Bernier; many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She will be greatly missed, always.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Church at 669 Union St. in Manchester, N.H., with light refreshments following. All are welcome and we would love to hear your thoughts, stories and memories, if you are willing to share them.
