ROCHESTER -- Rita B. George, 89, died Dec. 7, 2010, at Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health.
She was born in Mohegan, R.I., to Henry and Lora (Laroche) George. She lived in the Rochester area since 1936 and graduated from Rochester High School in 1937 and from McIntosh Business College in 1938.
She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire, where she also pursued graduate work.
She worked as an accountant, then as a business administrator. She became business administrator for the City of Rochester in 1980. She worked there until her retirement in June 1986.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Rochester. She enjoyed volunteering for the Channel 11 Auction and was a member of the UNH Alumni Association and many other local and national organizations.
She was predeceased by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Family members include her sister, Ruth George, C.S.C., of Manchester, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Grondin Funeral Home, 177 North Main St., Rochester. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Mary Church, 71 Lowell St., Rochester. Burial will be at a later date.

Rita was a great teacher and loyal friend. As a co-worker with the city she always had a smile and good advice. Rita was an extremely loyal person.
