Stephen Duval Obituary

MANCHESTER - Stephen F. Duval, 65, of Manchester, died Nov. 5, 2015, at the Elliot Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Manchester on May 10, 1950, the son of Paul and Blanche (Clement) Duval, and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Manchester High School West, Class of 1968.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era and retired as a technical sergeant with 20 years of service. Steve enjoyed sports and cheering for the Boston teams. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his dogs Thor and Thunder, but his real passion was celebrating Christmas and playing Santa for many children, both the young and young-at-heart. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers, Thomas Duval and James Duval.

Members of his family include his wife of 31 years, Sandy Duval; his sons, Trevor Duval and wife Clara, and Tim Duval and wife Sonia Halcarz; his grandchildren, Jenna Halcarz-Duval and Andrew Halcarz-Duval; and his sister, Corinne Duval, all of Manchester; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech Street, in Manchester. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Steve's name be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, 814 Elm St., Suite 300, Manchester, NH 03101.

I will remember Steve's compliments on my gardening efforts and I will miss his encouragement and advice. I will miss seeing his big white Santa beard growing every autumn. What a wonderful tribute at the wake - the photos, the slide show, Steve resting in his Santa suit. God bless! And peace to his family.

One of the greatest people I ever met. I worked with Steve years ago at Sports Authority. To this day I have never met someone as upbeat and positive as him.
Through all the years I have always thought about him around the holidays. I can hear him singing ROCKIN' 'ROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!! :)
He had a heart of gold and gave me amazing advise that I'll never forget.
My deepest condolences to his wife and family.
Rest east Sir

Hey Buddy, I see your radiant smile from above and hear your cry of, "On in one" while golfing. I enjoyed our numerous trips to watch the Penmen play basketball and our trips to Louisville and Buffalo in following them. Your Department 56 Christmas collection is etched in my memory, fond times. There are three factors you always placed above Department 56, basketball and golfing - Sandy, Trevor and Tim. Rest easy my friend and once again, "on in one!"
