David Warner Obituary

David G. "Dave" Warner, Sr. 1943 - 2019
UTICA - Mr. David G. "Dave" Warner, Sr., age 75, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, February 14, 2019. At the time of his passing he was in the hearts of the ones he loved the most.
Born in Utica on March 17, 1943, David was the son of the late Judge Harold C. and Ivalo (Foss) Warner. He was raised and educated in Newport. At one time, was married to Judith (Grande) Warner, and to that relationship came the blessing of four children and a friendship with Judi that remained strong. On August 21, 1992 he was blessed with a second union when he wed the former Joanne Papa. Dave loved Joanne and was always by her side. Their hearts and minds were united, and they were one.
Dave was a lineman with the New York Telephone Company, now known as Verizon. He worked at their Herkimer location until his retirement in 2002. Dave was a charming man blessed with a light heart, a quick wit, and the ability to craft a snappy response. Above all, he was a wonderful partner, dad, and Poppi who put his family first. Together, they traveled throughout the years from Vegas to Florida, and destinations between, and they enjoyed getting away. He was also a peacemaker, and he wanted everyone to be in each other's life with happiness, not strife. His closeness to his family was very fulfilling. His eight children made him very proud, and he was "over-the-moon" when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born. When they were growing, they were amazed by their Poppi, and they idolized and adored him. His days were filled with making sure all their little needs were met and they were happy. During the summer, weekends were spent at Chase Lake and Indian Hill where he relaxed and camped, and made friendships that were never forgotten.
Dave was a NASCAR fan and was proud of his Dale Earnhardt #3 emblem tattoo. He loved fast things, muscle cars, and his orange Camaro. He was meticulous in caring for his cars including his Escalade Truck. He was a man who had an eye for beauty and detail when it came to any vehicle. He also had a strong political view...! At one time, he was a member, area representative, and office holder of the Communications Workers of America Local #1126 in New York Mills.
Dave knew the Lord, and it was evident in the works that he put forth in this world.
David is survived by his life partner, Jo; his children and their loves, Dean and Sue Warner, Randy Warner and Bonnie Rollins, Kimberly and Scott Cool, David G. II and Angela Warner, Cara and Robert Hoyle, Bryan and Becky Bolton, Melanie and John Moorehead, and Lance and Ana Croman; his grandchildren, Erika Warner; Quentin Cool; Isaac, Nathan, Emma, and Samantha Warner; Kyleigh Hoyle, Isabella, and Baylee Bolton, Arianna, and Shane Moorehead; Anthony, Thalia, Gianna, and Annalise; his three great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Lyon; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold L. and Donna Warner, and Gilbert and Dona Warner; He also leaves his uncle, Carlton Warner; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Angela Nicotera, and Luigina and Anthony Zambino; his cocker spaniel, Maggie Lee, who was his canine companion and a part of the family; and his good friend, Fran Bolton. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Carmine "Carmen" Nicotera Sr., and Anita Williams.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Dave's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday evening at 7:00 with Pastor Chris Tringali officiating the ceremony. Committal Prayers will take place at Christ our Savior Mausoleum Chapel at Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday at 11:30 am.
