Robert Wolber Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" Wolber
Whitesboro/Clinton
Robert A. "Bob" Wolber, 91, of the Martin Luther Home in Clinton, and formerly of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2009, with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on December 23, 1917, Robert was the beloved son of Albert and Magdalina (Kinskey) Wolber. A graduate of the Utica Schools, Bob served in the United States Air Force as a Combat Photographer in France during WW II. He later retired from Kelsey Hayes with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Fur, Fin, and Feather Club and the American Legion, New Hartford Post 1376. On May 2, 1942, he married Helen Entwistle; their blessed union lasted over 57 years until Helen's death on January 12, 2000. Bob was devoted to his beloved wife, his children and his grandchildren. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Bob loved people; his magnetic personality and a great sense of humor were constants. Anyone who had the pleasure to spend time with Bob and the Wolbers at their camp on Kayuta Lake can testify to his hospitality and warmth. Any time they hear "Mack the Knife" they most definitely smile. Bob is survived by his devoted children, his daughter, Chris Wolber of New Hartford; his sons, Tom Wolber of Easton, MD, and Jim Wolber and his wife, Pam of Whitesboro. He also leaves three cherished grandchildren, Paul Wolber, Andrea Wolber, and Jeffrey Wolber all of Whitesboro. He leaves a brother, William Wolber and his wife, Rita of New Hartford; a sister, Agnes Riedel of Andover, MA, and a sister-in-law, Yaeko Wolber of Phoenix, AZ. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael in 1971, a brother, Albert Wolber, and a special niece, Jackie Wolber-Lawler. The family wishes to sincerely thank the entire staff of the Martin Luther Home--especially Vicky Meadows, Linda Nowakowski and the Willoway Unitâ€"for their wonderful care and compassion. Many thanks as well to all of Bob's many friends. Your constant visits, cards and efforts to stay in touch will not be forgotten. We cannot begin to tell you how much that meant to him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Whitesboro, with the Rev. Laurie Pauley, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider the American Legion Post 1376, New Hartford, in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. No bond is greater than the bond between a man and his family. Our father taught us many lessons, but most importantly he always made us feel loved. Dad will be sadly missed, but his positive attitude and wonderful sense of humor will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

Jimmy, Tom and Rabs-
So sorry that we are unable to be there to celebrate the truly wonderful life of your dad. He was always ready with a kind word, a smile, and a beer for all who crossed his path. He will be joking and laughing in our memories forever.
Here's to you "LITTLE BOB"; meet you at the "campfire" some day.

I worked in the gauge room at K-H in the '50's when Bob was a forman in the tool room. One day four of his tool makers picked up his VW while a fifth man put grease barrels under his wheels. No one laughed any harder than Bob when he saw his car sitting on barrels three feet off the ground. Or when he drove that little car in parades and stopped often to get out and turn a hugh key, that was supposed to be it's motivation. Great knowing you, Bob. rest in Peace.
