Words cannot express my sadness -- I will never forget Mrs. Nelson -- she would always tell the story of seeing me when I was brought home by my parents. We lived 2 doors down from the Nelsons in Hollin Hall -- She was the perfect southern lady -- RIP Mrs. Nelson Carole Ingell

I was lucky enough to know Sara through her brother in law George Nelson. She was such a beautiful lady inside and out with such southern charm. I knew her since I was a little girl. We will miss you dearly. Linda Kay Moore Chesser

How fortunate I was to have been a friend of Mrs. Nelson's! She was a remarkable lady in whose company I couldn't get enough:) So sweet and smart we always had something to talk about or I could just listen to her life stories which were rich with interesting history and/or humor. She loved her family deeply and I was lucky to meet many of them. She was a dear friend. I'll miss her so much!! Cecilia Woodward-Mittmann

Aunt Sara was a very beautiful lady. She had a youthful spirit and was ready to learn. She was my husband's, Guy Gupton, great aunt. We attended her 100th birthday party in Williamsburg. She was very special.

I met Mrs. Nelson through her friendship with my daughter Cecilia Mittmann who was her nurse during her fight with cancer when in her 90's. She was then living independently in her Williamsburg home. We talked about books she was reading, about our families and the interesting life she had enjoyed. She especially enjoyed knowing I was from Rome, GA near her beloved Cave Springs. I forwarded every story from the Rome News Tribune to her so that Cecilia would make sure she shared updates on her home town. She has been a dear and cherished friend of Ce's and will be greatly missed.
