Michael Stephens Obituary

Michael L. Stephens of Venice, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the age of 72. Michael was born at Venice Hospital in 1953 and was proud to be part of the fourth-generation Venice pioneer family.

The grandson of Venice Fire Chief Dewey Stephens and Venice Police Chief John Shockey. He attended Venice High School and graduated with the Class of 1971.

As a young boy he participated in Little League and Boy Scouts, but his real passions were fishing at the Venice Pier and Stock Car Auto racing. Through the years he worked as an Electrician and retired from Sarasota County as a Fire Alarm specialist where he worked for over 30 years.

He leaves behind his two children, Christopher Stephens (Sherrie) and Nikki Prunty (Donald) and 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Janice Stephens, sisters Marcia Krivonak (Mark) and Mindy Sichling. He was preceded in death by his father Glenn Stephens and brother Mark Stephens.

A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 4:00PM-7:00PM.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Jesse Knight Cemetery in Nokomis.
